WordPress Backups Have Never Been Easier

This week we launched BackupBuddy 3.1 and with it our new storage destination for your WordPress backups that we’re calling BackupBuddy Stash.

We believe it’s absolutely vital to keep your site backups off site so if God forbid a crash happens your site is safe and secure and accessible to restore it.

BackupBuddy Stash makes it … easy, convenient, affordable to backup your full site.

Every purchase of BackupBuddy comes with a free storage plan for your site.

With BackupBuddy Stash … BackupBuddy just got BETTER for you.

Here’s a quick video I did showing how it works and how easy it is to setup:

And here’s me using BackupBuddy Stash to fully restore a 184MB WordPress site in 5 minutes:

iThemes.com Just Got Some Fancy New Clothes

After over 3 years of having the same website design on iThemes.com, I’m super pumped to announce that we just flipped the switch on our new site design. It’s been months (and maybe years) in the making with a ton of work from our uber-talented team — and in particular Brad Ulrich and Ty Carlson.

This was the biggest redesign project I’ve ever been a part of. It’s also definitely the one of the most complex WordPress design projects I’ve even heard of as we have hundreds of pages and posts, integrations with our ecommerce/membership and forum software, and we really wanted drink our own Kool-Aid and use iThemes Builder, our star WordPress theme, with it for maximum flexibility.

You can read all the details about the new redesign features and a special Q&A with Brad and Ty too.

As with any launch of this site, we’re still working out some kinks, but go check out the new iThemes.com and let us know what you think!

Protect Your WordPress Site and Content with Backup Buddy

I’m super pumped to announce BackupBuddy 3.0 is out and into the wild!

We believe it’s the MOST essential plugin you can have running on your WordPress site … because what good is it to write content, upload your photos and get your site all blinged out only to lose it all because of malware, operator error or server crashes.

Yes, there are a number of so-called WordPress backup solutions out there … but a complete backup strategy is one that doesn’t just do backups … but allows you to easily and quickly RESTORE your site if something goes wrong … OR MOVE your WordPress site to another server.

That’s why we built BackupBuddy. It stands alone.

If you’re a web developer, you’ll easily pay for BackupBuddy in one job as you can move a client site from your sandbox to a live domain quickly — preserving ALL your theme tweaks, plugins, settings, even non-WP stuff.

Here’s what Jason Schuller of Press75 says about BackupBuddy:

“My business is powered by WordPress which means that having a backup of every change I make is pretty much a necessity. With that in mind, the first plugin I activate with any new WordPress install is BackupBuddy. Once activated, it takes two minutes to configure after which you can just let it do it’s job without ever having to worry about your site files or data ever again.”

So how much is your site content and the time and energy you spent on it worth?

Plus, we’re offering a discount on BackupBuddy 3.0 through June so it’s even more affordable!

My First Book is Out: WordPress All-in-One for Dummies

It’s been a lifelong dream of mine to write a book and thanks to my friend Lisa Sabin-Wilson, I had the privilege of doing so by co-authoring WordPress All-in-One for Dummies (Wiley 2011), which debuted last month.

Arguably one of the hardest projects I’ve ever taken on, I couldn’t have done so without the help of my excellent team at iThemes, especially Chris Jean and Matt Danner.

Our “book in a book” in this 900-plus-page tome was the one on WordPress themes. It is a great desk reference for anyone interesting in using WordPress to build great sites and includes information on search engine optimization, WordPress multi-site and plugins, among much more.

Check out the book here on Amazon and for a limited time we’re giving away copies as part of our WordPress Web Designer’s Toolkit package (with over $3,000 in themes, plugins and training).

Hope everyone is enjoying a great Christmas eve with family and friends!

Just wanted to share some links where I had the opportunity this week to be interviewed by two media outlets …
