The Missing Ingredient in Vision & Goals

One of the most powerful lessons I learned from my business mentor was this question:

What’s in it for them?

It’s the missing part of your company vision, strategy and goals … and the overlooked ingredient to unlocking passion … for your team.

We know why we as leaders and founders care.

We know what’s in it for us and for the company.

But what about your team? What’s the compelling WHY that they should care so much about that they WANT to go all in?

And it’s not just a job and a paycheck. If you stop there, you’re going to keep getting middling results and continue to be frustrated.

If we want people to be “all in,” we need to offer a compelling Something Bigger – connecting their contribution to a bigger purpose, cause and impact.

And you get there by asking: What’s important to them? (Values)

Start there …. what do they REALLY care about.

And with those answers, you’ll find your shared and common values (resonance) … and then connect them to inspiring impact (purpose), that we do FOR each other (customers AND team).

Get anywhere close to that … and you’ll get a team that WANTS to contribute …. because they BELONG to Something Bigger, Together.
