I wasn't passionate about backups & security. But I love building the biz & team.
Most of us don't know what the hell we want to do when we grew up either …. but the fortunate have FOUND it.

So go DISCOVER your passions. You do that by getting out there & doing stuff. Trying it out.

This is to hone your voice, message and potentially be discovered once you've done it consistently because you enjoy it.
No. 5 – Get really really really really effing good at asking really really really good questions.

Then shut up and LISTEN.
It's a two-part skills:
Ask questions. Listen.
Get good at BOTH.
Stay open. Stay curious. And BE freakin' interested in something.
No. 6 – you will likely have SEVERAL careers not just one like maybe your parents or grandparents.

When I even question someone is willing to put in the HARD grueling lonesome no-applause work, I know they don't have it.
Don't be a workaholic. Just DO THE WORK. And most of it is the CRAP work.
So how much shit will you shovel for your dream?

I rolled out what I was working on into the light of day …
I pressed publish. Or I launched the biz or product. And I failed many many times. But I also won big too.
Just showing up is sometimes the key to success.

The other 30%? Those relationships I mentioned. Partners, collaborators, awesome team members.
The final 10%? Maybe that was luck, hard work, skills, talent, experience.

Your future depends on it.
First, is your life partner. BIGGEST career decision of your life! Spend 100 times more on this than anything else I've said. That person go to the moon with you … or bury your career.
Second, go lean, stay lean financially. So you can change and pivot and jump on opportunities.

Minimize material attachments like house, car, whatever makes your month burn higher …. put them off. Rent. Get cheap rent. Go month to month if you can.

Be the LEADER (often w/o title) that everyone wants to be on the same team as you.
